# Flat file integration

Fairmarkit's generic flat-file integration allows you to sync data between Fairmarkit and your ERP/P2P purchasing application. You can import data from your purchasing application to Fairmarkit using SFTP or email. Fairmarkit also supports sending back purchase requisition events (closed, awarded, canceled, and archived) to your purchasing applications--either via our generic flat-file export, webhook, or API integration.

Important: Before you can use flat file integration, there are some steps that you'll need to complete the prerequisite setup. [For more information, see Prerequisites for flat file integration.](/buyers/integrations/flat-file-integration/prerequisites-for-flat-file-integration.md)
