# Request for proposal (RFP)

When you're looking to start up a new project to tackle complex spend and source services, look no further than request for proposal (RFP) in Fairmarkit. On a request for proposal, the system will walk you through the process to define the event, add questions and documents, and then invite suppliers to send proposals for your event.

Important: To access Fairmarkit’s request for proposal module, please contact your Fairmarkit Customer Success Representative.

### Basic workflow <a href="#basicworkflow" id="basicworkflow"></a>

This outlines the basic workflow to create, submit, and award a request for proposal. However, there can be variations to this workflow.

Note: An event goes through multiple statuses during the request process. For more information, see [Event status (Buyers)](/glossary/glossary/event-status-buyers.md).

* [Create a request for proposal](/buyers/request-for-proposal-rfp/create-a-request-for-proposal.md): Create an event with questions about the items and services you need to purchase, select the suppliers to invite, and publish your event.
* **Send for proposals**: Once submitted, suppliers can submit a proposal, including answers to your questions, prices, and terms, within a specified time frame. If they have questions, they can message you directly.
* [Award a proposal](/buyers/request-for-proposal-rfp/review-and-award-a-request-for-proposal-event.md): Once the event is closed, you can review and award your preferred proposal.
